A Croatian/American vocalist, composer, singer, arranger, violinist, producer and activist woman, whose talent to create music goes beyond the usual stuff, Thana Alexa has a purpose to express through her music what she feels and the message she wants to represent, taking topics about the reality we live in and personal experiences of herself.
This strong and full of potential artist, discovered her love for music at a very young age transmitting this to her family, who did the possible to accomplish the little girl desire. Since then, Alexa has grown as a musician who not only plays the violin beautifully, but also sings and write songs.
“Ode to Heroes” the first Thana’s opus was released in 2015, including 11 titles and with the collaboration of the saxophonist Donny McCaslin, drummer Antonio Sanchez and bassists Scott Colley and Jorge Roeder. This album has a personal touch of the singer, and it catapulted her inside of the music industry, opening several doors for her.
Years later, in 2020, the second album of the artist is released: “ONA”. The name of the album means “SHE” in the native Croatian language of Thana’s family, and contains 10 title including the single “The Resistance”.
“ONA” explores the Croatian jazz roots of the artist and the demand for women rights, supporting the positive movements of the feminist cause, showing a piece of the women’s history worldwide and their battles or struggles.
Fusing touches of contemporary soul, R&B, world, atmospheric sounds, with her jazz base and powerful, unique vocal ability with a diversity of textures that make way to her passion and own perspective, Alexa speaks her mind showing to the world her gift, evolving every day to a better version of herself able to keep spreading her word and raising her voice.
