Sly Johnson

Sly Johnson was born on June 26th, 1974 in Montrouge. Present for more than 15 years on the French scene, he is a beatboxer, rapper, DJ and singer. Until 2007, he is Sly The Mic Buddah, beat boxer of SAÏAN SUPA CREW, with which he makes three albums in studio. In this reference group, he travels the national and international scenes as author, co-composer and performer.
In 2005, he made a solo tour with the EP Sumthin That You Never Heard Before with duets with Wildchild (Lootpack) and Declaime
(Dudley Perkins). The album, in collaboration with SAÏAN SUPA CREW “KLR”, wins 2 golden discs and a platinum disc. Nominated twice at the Victoires de la Musique, they win together the prize for the best album for “X-raison” which will win a Golden Disc.
Sly Johnson takes off as solo in 2010 with the 5-songs “The June 26th” (Universal Jazz) in which Ayo participates with her song “I’m Calling You”. This is followed by an album with Archer Larry Gold and the producer Jay Newland. The American rappers from Slumvillage come for a ride on the record taken by the title “74”. This album refers to his year of birth and recreates the spirit of the golden age of soul with energy and pleasure. He’s been nominated to the Constantin Prize. Sly Johnson is recognised by professionals, he collaborates with many artists such as: Camille, Erik Truffaz, Oxmo Pepino, Raphael, Ayo, Lucky Peterson, D3CCPT, OFX, Explicit Samurai, Rokia Traore, Juliette Greco, Grace, Union Analogtronics featuring Tara lib Kweli, China Moses …
His second album made with the collaboration of the producer Dilouya THE MIC BUDDAH is born in 2015 [heavenly sweetness].
Today, Sly Johnson launches into beatmaking under the alias TAGi & Steven Beatberg with the album “youaresurrounded”, released on March 31th, 2017 [heavenly sweetness]. Barely a week after its release, the album is included in the Fip playlist. In perpetual evolution, it imposes himself also on the radio with his show “Come in2 My Jazz” every Friday from 22h00 on Jazz Radio and the singer is also at the microphone of his own webradio. It offers very diversified playlists around jazz, soul, funk and hip-hop styles. Sly continues to explore new horizons. He thus discovers his talents as radio host.
