Noir Désir

The French alternative band Noir Désir was born in 1985, formed by Bertrand Cantat, guitarist Serge Teyssot-Gay, Frédéric Vidalenc and Denis Barthe. The band’s first EP was released in 1987. Two years later, Noir Désir published a debut album, Please Return the Soul (to whom it belongs). With his second album Du Ciment sous les plaines (1990), the tougher, more punk influences of the group began to emerge, and progressed to Tostaky in 1992. The band continued to produce albums in the early 2000s, at the rate of One every two years. In 2003, the singer Bertrand Cantat is accused of the murder of the actress Marie Trintignant. John Bush
